Lovely Trenty (born Trent Boult) had a great night at the IPL auction this week, after getting snapped up for 125m rupees ($2.537m) by the Mumbai Indians.
The Black Caps fast bowler with the compact cakehole was unavailable for comment, but was reportedly overheard looking at his online banking app and saying “ooh that’s lovely”. This comment could not be verified however, as his small mouth sometimes makes it difficult for any sound to get out.
Fellow Kiwis Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra were both secured by the Chennai Super Kings, but the record price went to Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who was bought for 270m rupees ($5.480m) by the Lucknow Super Giants. The Mumbai Indians would not comment on rumours they were rebranding themselves as the Mumbai Super Indians.
Australian batsman David Warner meanwhile was not purchased on the first night, and looks unlikely to be picked up on Day 2 either because he’s generally unpleasant to be around.
More to come...
