Ben From Accounts recommits with NZRFU until 2020

Ben Smith has re-committed to New Zealand Rugby, the Highlanders and Otago.

The All Blacks fullback has resisted the lucrative advances from clubs in France and Ireland to sign a deal to stay in New Zealand until 2020.

Smith said it worked well for everyone involved, with his family well established it helps, while he also feels he has plenty more footy in him.

After debuting in 2009, Smith has evolved into a vital member of the All Blacks, while his leaderships skills continue to grow as co-captain of the Highlanders and vice captain of the ABs.

The contract includes the option of a sabbatical period and an early termination option post the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
