Rain washes out Day One of 1st Test between Black Caps & India

The opening day of the Black Caps’ first test against India in Bengaluru has been washed out.

Rain before play was set to begin meant the toss did not take place and persistent drizzle throughout the day saw the covers remain on the wicket block.

With the rain growing heavier in the afternoon, the umpires soon called stumps and the few fans remaining emptied from M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Day two is scheduled to begin at the earlier time of 4.45pm (NZT) as the Black Caps look to bounce back from last month’s 2-0 series defeat in Sri Lanka.
