Warriors fans will have to wait a little longer before seeing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck in 2025.
Named to start on the wing in the first pre-season trial against the Sharks, Tuivasa-Sheck has been ruled out with a “minor niggle” at training on Tuesday.
The Warriors have named Ed Kosi as his replacement, who will wear the No. 18 jersey,
Coach Andrew Webster said Tuivasa-Sheck will be available for the club’s second pre-season match against the Tigers in Hamilton on 15 Feburary.
The injury will be frustrating for the Auckland club, with Tuivasa-Sheck seemingly destined for a positional shift for the 2025 NRL season.
Winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak revealed that the former captain had been impressing on the flank across the pre-season.
“There’s a few of us fighting for spots,” said Watene-Zelezniak when asked about wing contenders. “Webby keeps it quite competitive with us and doesn’t really like to show anyone that this is the starting [team] but we’re sort of getting an idea now.”
“Roger’s been on the wing training, he’s been training well too. It’s been nice, running after him, [he] beats a few defenders and then carry the ball after that. But yeah, I wouldn’t be too surprised if he’s the [other wing].”
